Some people claim the best time to buy fuel is on a Wednesday, when gas prices have settled back down from the weekend bump when gas stations typically bump prices. Well you can do your own checking of this at your local fuel station and disprove the theory. Fact is that fuel prices go up, fuel prices shrink. The only substantial bumps happen during Holidays so it does make sense
to fill up a few days before a Holiday if possible and this will save you a bit.
POWER DOWN
Restart your engines - this is a funny one. Could you imagine driving on the road with some driver in front of you who turned their vehicle engine off at every red light just to improve your fuel economy? Could you visualize if a large number of vehicles around you were doing that? It just hits me as a funny scene. And it doesn't save much fuel besides. Surely your weakest mileage is when you are burning fuel and not moving but it doesn't amount to very much.

That is the sound of driving with a deformed tire. Yeah you need to maintain tires at standard pressure but for other reasons besides to improve your fuel economy. You won't accomplish much except some slight improvement by ensuring your tire pressure is standard.
DE-JUNK YOUR TRUNK
Your total savings will be approximately 3-6 cents per gallon by unloading the excess from your trunk and back seat.
