Just What We Needed - Increase Tax On Fuel By GARKO Rep. John Dogbreath Dingell has called for a fifty cents tax increase on every gallon of gasoline in a really dumb stab at slowing down the gasoline useage of Americans. I am not sure if a 50 cents tax on every gallon will reduce American's appetite for gasoline, but it will certainly cut back on American's interest in voting Democrat come November. Dingell has accomplished a feat that is truly unique with this proposal. He has alienated Big Oil and the average citizen in one not so graceful motion! By the way, a lot of folks are not aware that they are already giving Uncle Sam about fifty centados or more per gallon! Many polls declare that many Americans are in favor of policies that would reduce greenhouse gases, but that doesn't mean that they want it to hit their pockets. Dingells' tax proposal will just make it harder for most Americans to make ends meet. If Dingell had paid attention in Econ 101, he would have learned that some products are considered inelastic. That means exactly that they don't get affected to price increases like other products. Gas consumption is, for most folks, in that category. The lion's share of theirgasoline consumption is to get to and from work and essential motoring. A suspicious person might wonder whether Dingel is trying to force more Americans to become couch potatoes and let the television suck the life out of them as opposed to being outside
meeting with friends and talk about how to get Dingel out of office off of work hours The auto is America's biggest polluter; Americans consume more fuel than the next 20 countries combined. (If you considered that they only hate us abroad because of Bush, that is not quite true) There are important factors that prove Dingel's evil agenda that you may not be aware of, the majority of Americans. Did you know... 1. That Exxon raked in $8 billion in profits in 2007 while fuel prices at the pump doubled and tripled. 2. That the price of a barrel of crude was $18 before Sept 2001 and is now over one hundred dollars and this is going up 3. That a vehicle in 1908 performed 40% better on fuel mileage than a vehicle in 2008 4. That the average vehicle only properly uses 20% of the fuel that you put into the engine which is why you have a catalytic converter... to eliminate the unburnt, unused fuel as emissions 5. In fact, the vehicles made in the last 15 years all have computers. The computers are pre-hacked to make sure that you don't reduce fuel consumption more than the oil companies are willing for you to have! 6. The most volatile reason why Big Brother and oil companies should feel our wrath is that there is a genuine solution but the government has been keeping it hidden from our view. Well, from most of us. I already know the truth. You will know it too when you visit this website. Songwriter, activist, consumer advocate and activist, GARKO, shows youhow to improve gas mileage on a 1500 Silverado and how to save gas on a Ford F150 5.4 Liter engine or any other engine.
