Water Hybrids - Why The Hype?
By Piper
I admit it. I'm hooked on the concept of powering my car with water! Technology has come a long way since Henry Ford took us into the future with his gas guzzling machine.

Amazingly, the concept of a water-powered vehicle is not new. In 1934 a man named Garrett demonstrated the technology in Dallas, Texas. With the price of gas skyrocketing out of control, now's the time to move forward and a water hybrid provides part of the solution -- by increasing gas mileage and easing the pain at the pump

Few people know there's a big difference between a water hybrid and a fuel cell vehicle. Although they both utilize the technology that converts water to hydrogen, they're an entirely different breed of cat. The fuel cell vehicle is very expensive while, at this point in time, there's no such thing as a water hybrid unless you build it yourself. That means it

can cost as little as $200 to convert a vehicle to a water hybrid which beats a $500-a-month car payment for a fuel cell vehicle any day of the week!

In some ways, a water hybrid offers more advantages because it doesn't take a certified mechanic to convert almost any gas combustion engine to run on a hydrogen/gas solution. Because the conversion kit for a fuel cell vehicle is more complex, it may require a knowledgeable mechanic to fix any problems that are encountered.

Hydrogen mixed with gas burns cleaner and the engine runs cooler and smoother. Because of increased fuel efficiency the car's computer leans out the mix which increases gas mileage. The water hybrid also qualifies for tax benefits under the clean air act.

The time has come for the push for alternative fuels and we need to take advantage of the opportunity to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Developing and promoting the technology that allows us to utilize hydrogen as fuel for our vehicles could be one of the greatest advancements in our lifetimes.
